Some of the window behaviors seem a bit strange to me. I suppose they're default behaviors and there's a way to turn them off, but I haven't looked, and then I'm even more confused as to whether I want to turn them off.

You can drag a window to the left or right edge of the screen to have the window occupy that half of the screen. Very convenient most of the time, but might be annoying if I just wanted to move a window out of the way but can't seem to get it far enough.
Then there's the bottom right button at the end of the taskbar that you can drag from there to hide all your windows. I really think this would work better as a keyboard combination, if there isn't one already.

Yeah, the new start bar is interesting, and I guess each one has it's own advantages.
Could you elaborate? I don't understand how rearranging things can help me that much, unless you happen to be one of those people who hates when things aren't perfectly categorized and arranged in order.

When your working and have 2 instances of visual studio running, 2 instances of sql server, excel, word, a few folders, 5 messenger windows, the command prompt and photoshop running its much easier to manage if they're all grouped together and you have a large enough screen to not group them vertically.

Maybe I misunderstood. I thought dw was talking about how you can rearrange items on the taskbar by clicking and dragging them to a different position on the taskbar. I can't think of an example where this feature would be useful, so if that is what he was talking about, I wanted to know if it was just a matter of personal preference.

I see Timo is using a most appropriate web browser. I commend you, sir! Tongue

I got annoyed that WMP (an application which i usually don't use when multitasking) appears in the taskbar.

When im looking at all the apps i have open and the mini preview windows morph between each other quite nicely -- however when I get to WMP they dissappear suddenly and then re-appear for windows explorer.

I thus resolved this issue by moving WMP as the leftmost icon in the taskbar.

I do use WMP quite frequently however so I dont mind having it on my quick launch bar (although that said I usually open a file which is associated with WMP)

I also like the new Libraries thing in Windows 7 too -- its especially cool that you can add a UNC path to your libraries (for those that have network file servers)

These Library things look pretty great. It looks like you can share them, so it should make an easy way to organize your distro, especially if it spans multiple drives.
It would be great if the library actually appeared as a single folder when you share it with older Windows versions (It might if it's between multiple Windows 7 machines, but I only have one)

As an example

Shares Library <-- Share this and everything is auto-shared with same permissions
-Documents (C:\Users\...\Documents)
--\doc.txt
-Downloads (D:\Downloads)
--\opensourceapp.exe

Is this a DW Forums problem or an IE8 problem? I'm guessing it's the latter, as everything just works perfectly in Opera (even Opera 10 alpha).

IE8 has some really strange behaviors unless it's in compatibility mode. I'm guessing this is either due to the fact that websites have identified the browser as IE and implemented workarounds intended for rendering in older IE versions, or IE8 just doesn't render things as they should be (which wouldn't surprise me)
