Help me.
I have some retarded flat mates who use like 20gb of internet usage in a 2 weeks. Our cap is 20gb for a month. We end up paying like $40 extra on top of our bill. Is there a way i can limit internet usage? Like assign 100mb a day to a certain mac address?

Pls say yes, and pls say it is easy because this is driving me nuts.

Yeh switching plans would be the easiest way to do it, the other thing you could do is set up a proxy server aswell that way you can shape the traffic based on clients or usernames.. but thats way harder to do ...

She(2 chicks) will soon realize. No need to really change plans as they are moving out in 3 weeks. But still annoying. I am with Telstra Clear, 20gb a month for cable 10/7mb

If your router is great you should be able to setup some kind of access control

like block all ports except 80 to everyone but your IP

Youtube is the culprit and so is bebo. Massive amounts of photos being uploaded. So i don't think limiting to port 80 will do anything except limit me from playing/hosting games on wc3.

Netgear WGR614 v7 is the router.

It should have some kind of parental URL filtering control, block http://www.youtube.com and maybe the photo uploader url for bebo (not sure how it works) and when they complain, just suggest the site might be down...

and you block the URL's and ports for everyone but your IP, so you will have un-restricted access everywhere, just make your IP static.
