New Phone
So I want to buy a new cell phone.

What's your thoughts on the best phone to get? Including smart phones, imagine that cost is not an issue.

Real world experiences would be great too; have you used an iPhone? have you played with Android? etc.

Just get an iPhone. That's coming from someone who generally dislikes Apple on the whole.

Thanks for that, I was leaning towards an iPhone and also generally dislike Apple. Thought I was going crazy

I would like to hear if anyones used one of the high end touch screen phones lately, becasue by going iPhone touch is the only input option, this does leave me somewhat apprehensive

I have an Ipod touch find the touch screen fine for normal use, there is a little bit of insensitivity near the edges of the screen and if two buttons are small (about 2 mil diameter) and close together accidentally pushing the wrong one can sometimes be a problem, but most of the programs for it are aware of this issue and so it doesn't come up to often

I would find it hard to dangerously txt while driving without actual buttons. Txting in general must be harder

While I tend to agree that having the tactile feedback from buttons is much better, my current phone has small buttons, and its real annoying, makes me feel like I have fat fingers = /

And the smartphones I've seen with slide out full qwerty keypads look like they have tiny buttons - so I'm thinking that would be worse than touch screen - unless of course the touch screen has equally small buttons...

I like slider phones with the good ol numpad. I would go for an Android. But they all either have the slideout qwerty, or are touch only.

HTC Desire -- most reviews say its better than the iPhone and im considering getting one soon as well -- but if you're leaning towards the iPhone wait for the new one to anounced later this month.

Rumour has it that Andriod 2.2 update for the Desire may be released as early as late this month. Android 2.2 boasts a speed increase of 2-5 times as well as Flash 10.1 support

There is an XT version as well as a Vodafone version dependin on what carrier your're with

Re touch screens I too was skeptical... but they are great

Re QWERTY smartphones with tiny buttons -- this is true however they are elevated making it easy to press them without mashing keys
