Gisborne ADSL2+
I hear, from the Gisborne Telecom exchange guys, that the fibre link from Hawkes Bay has been completed and that ADSL2+ has been enabled for Telecom customers in the CBD and shortly in Whataupoko (Russell street area).

Which is ahead of the scheduled 2010 date

I hear that my Gisborne house is in that area... and that yours is not.

I will admit, that when I heard this news my immediate thought was along the lines of 'dammit! that means kenjis house'

Also, apparently, if your on a Telecom broadband plan thats full speed (so not the most basic plan) and have an ADSL2+ router, you should be able to sync at ADSL2+ speeds which are up to 24Mbs...

This is not confirmed of course.

Tell me when you see those sorts of speeds Chris, I've moved to Gisborne.net. I'll move back when our area gets good ADSL

Does that mean we will get these speeds on like our old plans or do we have to switch to an adsl2 plan?

As far as I know, all the Telecom broadband plans except the most basic are 'optimised for adsl2+'
